BIRTH

If you follow me on Instagram (@thetoxinfreetexan) then you know it's no secret I love talking about birth! I could talk about this all day long. Giving birth to Payson was one of the most amazing experiences.

Growing up I always envisioned I'd one day give birth in a hospital with an epidural because that's just what you do, right? That doesn't have to be the case! I took a deep dive into all things birth related a few years ago. These resources are predominantly going to be information on out of the hospital birth- either home birth or at a birth center like I did without drugs.

If you have any questions on this please reach out!

Ina Mays Guide to Childbirth is an excellent book. The first half can be a bit repetitive bc it's just birth stories but the second half is amazing.

I also really recommend the Dr. Berlin podcast. I believe it's called the Informed Pregnancy Podcast. He's a chiropractor in California and he interviews a lot of celeb clients of his. My favorite episode is Hilary Duff talking about her home birth.

EPIDURALS: to get one or not to get one?

Epidurals seem to be the norm and so I’m here to say, there are reasons to reconsider. Think about it and decide if it’s what YOU really want.

Hoping this information will help you make your decision. I know they are generally regarded as safe, and they usually are, but in my years in the birth space I’ve heard lots of stories. As always, my hope is that you to have a full understanding so you can make an informed decision.

Share your epidural experiences in the comments (please be kind and graceful - try not to scare) especially if you’ve experienced birth with and without one. What was the difference for you?

The amount of influencer birth stories I have seen with the storyline of “the cord was around the neck, it was an emergency” is heartbreaking because: it’s a lie told to them by hospital staff (who were sold the lie by someone else). But also…. the thousands or millions of people who are learning about this lie from reading the birth story is sad 😭💔😭 I am just trying to do my little role of re-educating people to trust our bodies, babies, and birth!
